We split the whole into equal parts according to the denominator. Tap to colour as many parts as the numerator shows.
Part of a whole: 2/3 of 21 is 14, because 21 : 3 = 7 and 7 · 2 = 14.
Adding fractions with the same denominator: we add the numerators, the denominator stays. 1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4.
Subtracting: we subtract the numerators, the denominator stays. 4/6 − 1/6 = 3/6.
